    Boyesen reeds ??

    Hi I'm new to this board, I've been restoring a 1989 184 DC w/175 BlackMax, I have the project about finished and have been on the water 4-5 times, When I rebuilt the power head I installed Boyesen power Reeds. My power at high and mid range is great but at idle I start to load up and evetually stall, I beleave I need to change my Jetting< Do any of you guy's Know what size of jet will need? any help or info will be appreciated..

    Welcome to the BBC. Not too sure on the merc but don't you need to increase idle timing a few degrees? That should be in the installation instructions.

    reposted to the merc page..... I made the need timing adj. and there was a note about possible need to rejet but not much info, and I havent got much help from Boyesen......

    I've installed quite a few composite reeds, sometimes it needed jetting, sometimes not. Check your plugs to make sure they are not any lighter than dark brown, if so you'll need to jet up one size as you're running a little lean.

    i think tdr reeds will seal better at idle, lots better than boyseen
