    Champion hulls

hello everyone...little background first...in the last 3 months I upgraded from an old 17' deep vee tin lowe(a fine boat) to a 98 champ 190sx f&s which i understand is built on the standard 190 bass boat hull. This 190sx, aside from internet research, was my first champion ride/experience. I have been out 1-3 times/week for the last couple months

The difference is OBVIOUSLY rediculous from my old lowe...i swear that going 55 in chop in the champ feels smoother and more comfy than going 25 on glass in the lowe. I am sooooo impressed with the champion 190 hull that i can't imagine a better ride granted that my only other glass boat experience was several times in a 20' triton with a skilled driver(not impressed w ride). Well my father is retiring next year and I will be giving him my 190sx as a retirement gift...i really bought the boat for him in the first place to keep him busy and get him back on the water in retirement.

The purpose of the madness that is this story is...after i pass my beloved 190sx on to pops I will be on the search for another champion;straight bass boat this time. For those that have experience in several different champion hulls...what other mid to late 90's, 19-20ft, ~7-10k champion hulls ride and fish as well as this 190 hull? Is the 190 one of the better/avg/lesser(if possible) champion hulls? I read lots of great things about the 18' champ boats too, will an 18ft champ fish nearly identical to a 19? It seems that there is a large price point between an 18ft boat and a 19.

Really am sorry about this long post but i had to get it all out...I am just far too impressed with champion.

There are several Champ models that should suit you... And I would stick with the 187 and up in size. More folks will be along, but I loved my 187 and now have the 198. Perfect for me!!!

A 187 would be a great boat for you! It is 18.7 feet and is rated for a 175. A couple of others that you should look at are the 181 and 184.

18 ft Champs are special in that they ride as good as of better than some 20's you will see on the water.

    I own a 183 and love it .

    Good luck on your search.

My 181 fishes big for an 18'1" boat. My friend and I both fish the front deck and he's a 300 lb guy. I've never fished another 18 ft boat that fishes like mine. If you see a deal on a 181 or 183 then be sure to check it out. At least that's my opinion.

    Wasn't the 187 rated for a 200 HP? I had a 186 Bass N Bay and it was rated for a 175.

I have owned a 184, a 181, and currently a 187. I don't think you would go wrong with any of the ones you have listed.

Oh, and I know where you could find a clean 187:

Thanks for the info. And to think, all the time I wasted sitting in my 186 wishing it was 1" longer (The boat you sickos) so I could put a 200 HP on it.

Anything that doesn't say 180 or 204 is going to be good. Pretty simple.

Not enough HP in my opinion, but a great start.
