    Garmin DownVU and SideVu questions

Interested in the new 93 sv from garmin but was wondering about their DownVu...Is it dedicated DownVu or is it generated from the SI view like Humminbird? Anyone messed with this unit yet at a show or anything? I think the release date is any day...Im thinking of jumping ship from bird and going garmin....What are peoples thoughts on what you would gain/lose? I have 2 1198's at the moment..

The Garmin is a dedicated DownVu and Sidevu . Im not sure anyone has messed with them yet still waiting on release . I have jumped ship from Hbird to Garmin and and as far as I can tell your not giving up much but maybe some Network options but gaining easier operation and less tweaking just to get good image's . I have ran Bird's since early 90's and Garmin has impressed me the last year or so im glad they have got back into the Freshwater game maybe it will stir it up a little they have more R&D then the others combined and don't get to the top of the Saltwater and Aviation Market for no reason

I have played with one at a boat show back in Jan.
i worked the booth for Garmin and messed around a lot on one. Not quit sure on your question but will try to answer them for you
Didn't know that the humminbirds were generated from the SI. Thay are quit the units for ease of operation but may lack a little in comparison to the 1198's with reguards to networking. They will share waypoints but need a little extra wiring to do so. Each unit will need its own map

You should look at Garmin's website and see which lakes around your area are covered with the built in map's LakeVu HD you might be happy with them or you can upgrade and buy the Ultra Map's

Humminbird does not have DI crystals in their SI units transducers...their DI images are just computer generated SI pics...Their DI only units do have dedicated DI, but not the SI units...
