Ok, Was finally able to get out and run the boat with the new (to me) 26P Tempest Plus. I started at 4 inches below the pad and adjusted from that point up to 3.25 and back down to 4.5. The best speed I was able to get was 61 on the GPS. Handling was ok, I had to put the block off PVS plug in the prop to keep it from cavitating upon hole shot. RPMS were up to 5800 and as low as 5600 when the motor was set deep. When the motor was at 3.5 and higher,at full trim and WOT I was throwing a roost about 10 feet tall (at least) and the best I could get was about 56 mph on the GPS. I played all around with trim settings but that was about the best. The 61mph came from when the motor was at 4 inches. I went back to the Trophy (25p) plus and repeated all the same tests. Hole shot was better and top speed was 63.8 mph The trophy seems to like it best at about 4 inches. Roost was about motor high and rpms were at 5800+/-. Now FYI, I was loaded heavy, full tank of gas, reserve tank half full and all gear and my two fishing buddies (My boys 15 and 11). I did notice that the bow lift on the Tempest was very weak compared to the Trophy, I could really feel the bow up in the air with the trophy. So, my question is...do these findings in my experiment seem correct? And where do I go from here? Drop to a 25 tempest like Pat suggested? Would could I do to help with the bow lift, this seems to be holding me back. I'm open to any suggestions. Not that the boat is running bad by any means, I (we) are really enjoying it compared to my 1986 184 that I had. I guess like my wife says- "I just like f@$%ing with things." On a side note, this really proves that the 26 raker I had must of had some serious slip going on to be running like it did. Thanks guys!![]()
