    Champion its all about pride

The post about Champ graphics reminded me of the day I bought mine. My wife said "they must be proud of their name its all over the boat"

    Champion Factory logo's:
Pass side and driver seat back
    Rubber step center seat
    Glove box
    Speedo, and tach
Butt seat and rear fold down
    Bump board
One on each side of the hull

    My sickness more add-ons
One oval on each console front
    Front carpet graphic
    Rear carpet graphic
Graphic below the center seat back
A IGS 35 year on the cooler front

And I have: blue oval, steering center logo, and a rectangle design as extras in my basement

Add to the crazyness life jackets, multi-tool, and a closet full of tee shirts/ tourney shirts, jacket, and rain gear.

I think I need to see the DR now.

Re: Champion its all about pride

I understand the sentiment. Heaven knows, there is no one on the planet any more a Champion fan than I am. However, sometimes the Stratos folks get upset/hurt when we make comments about the logo. It's not their fault that PE made this decision. When all this "went down", a lot of comments were made about Champion people going into the Stratos forum and getting pretty insulting.

I hope we have risen above, and stay above, all that. The Elites are still ChampioN through and through, regardless of what they say on the side.

Before getting the Stratos Logo, were they build along side Stratos when under Gemnar? Just curious..

Yes the were built in the same plant on different lines and dedicated workers as I was told.

Thats what I was told; anyone have anything to add or ammend?

Flippn has a full staff of skilled workers so every boat off of that line should be great as well.

PS: nice to see another 183 owner aboard.

    Wow that is interesting.

Almost treated as seperate business units.

Didn't they share designer's though.. Alan Stintson or something like that?

Re: Champion its all about pride (slinkeey)

Alan Stinson is the designer of the Stratos hulls (not the Stratos Elites, which are Champions re-badged). The only involvement he had with Champion, to my knowledge, was the 25 Bay and briefly, with the early 07 200.

Champion and Stratos each had their own president and staff. They simply shared the building....along with a third line...the smaller boats in the Hydra-Sports line. A lot of folks don't realize that. Genmar was the parent company....of these and other boat brands.

I also got it just that bad, most of the folks on this forum is very retentive when it comes to their Champion Boats. If you ever ride , drive or own one you will be just as ill as most of us on here. The boat actually gets in your system and there is no cure.

Re: Champion its all about pride (Lea)

ChampioN World according to Pat Goff says: (Referring to the TN manufactured models):

"Genmar's lead guy is/was Alan Stinson, who's history began with the Skeeter starfire, then he started Nitro, then jumped to stratos, and is/was working on the latest champ hulls. His ideas are what he believes a boat *should* do, take it or leave it. His managers have dictated they want a boat to do this, and this is what the end result is.

In my opinion (yours might vary) the "day the music died" was when Dave Schlick left champ, he was the designer of the 202, 191, 186, he was half way into the 203 when he hit the road, and though it's a very good running boat, it's by no means a 202 in handling or ride.

Boats afterwards were done by committee, with a lot of people stirring the pot, so that's why you get a mixture of everything you've seen."

Re: Champion its all about pride (Gunnar)

I saw this on here before...

    <table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote, originally posted by Jason Bragg http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=620547 &raquo;</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">
202 - Born from the 198 hull which was born from the 196 hull. Again Alan working his magic when he created the 198 and the 202. (True Champion offspring from the Mountain Home hulls)</td></tr></table>

Ahh.. So who really designed the 202.. I guess in reality, who really cares, right? As long as it does what the owners want it to do..

Exactly....too many opinions, speculations and claims for individual greatness. The 202 is pretty much the 198 hull with a new topcap. Credit has been given to some who were not involved, and not given to some who were. As Pat said..and was posted above, a mix of folks involved.

My wife must be proud of our Champion..

    So far she bought..

    1 Champion Hat.
    2 Champion Shirts
1 Metal Champion Keychain for car and house keys
1 Foam Champion Keychain for the boat
    2 Champion CanCuzzis

Her excuse is that she stumbled on the "http://www.championboatapparel.com/" website back in the fall and the prices were better then buying" plain old get the job done" keychains, shirts, cancuzzi's and etc...

Re: Champion its all about pride (slinkeey)

Well boy's and girls, after this past SAT, I'm on with Champion for sure. My old 86 - 168 with a 90 hp did 42+ and rode smooth as glass and still had some trim left, lol. Even tho she's underpowered she was good for now. I'm a good comnvert and love it, lol. Hince why I updated my Siggy to include the champion boats on my Siggy. I'd like to sell my 90 and get a 115 later on and could see 50+ easy, lol

Concrete floor with cover and plastic draped over the cover.

Yep I am the guy you want to buy a used boat off of.

Yeah my buddy was gonna get his Triton out up around Madison on the Rock river..

He advised that I waited for my local lakes to defrost as I am new to boating.. He said everytime he goes out on th Rock, after the first melt, he has at least one section of pier come floating at him because people don't always pull them in for the winter.
