It's easy. On both sides, where the rounded side meets the flat side, it will be bunched up there. You're going to have to remove the excess bunched up carpet at those two points
so just cut it there? like cut basically a chunk out?

This isn't perfect but it will get the idea across. You have to take out little triangles in the round corners. ScreenHunter_203 Jan. 29 17.30.jpg
Ok that's actually easier now that I see it. You're going to have to glue it down first and bunch up the carpet dead center of the round area. It will naturally fold in half where it bunches up. Cut the bunched up area and there will be a seam dead center of the round area. When the lid is closed, you won't be able to see the seam
Also, use liquid nail to glue the lid edges it sets quickly and is clean. Go look at my recent post in this forum on the gambler 183 restoration.
Thanks! Great info guys

liquid nail? get some weldwood, get it warm and it's instant. Liquid nail is still pliable for days weeks years, and it's hell to get off if you have to re do it.

I just used my 3m spray adhesive and its instant. Spray the edge, press it down for 10 seconds...done.
