Recently Purchased Navionics+ for use with a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI unit.

Downloaded map area that includes the Toledo Bend Reservoir on the Texas/La border. I had looked at the online map on Navionics web site and really was impressed with the level of detail shown. Specifically, the boat lanes are a nice feature that was one of the reasons for the purchase. In the sample image below taken from the Navionics web site, you can clearly see the North/South boat lane represented by Green/Red markers on either side, and an auxiliary boat lane marked with Red/White circles.

    NavPlusMap.jpg

When the map data I downloaded is displayed on the Elite 7 HDI, the Green/Red markers for the North/South boat lane are missing. The Red/White markers for the auxiliary boat lane are there and all detail shown in the online map is all there with regards to the contours, underwater features, etc... I can't find any setting in the unit that would hide/show these markers. They just do not appear to be included in the data even though they are shown in the online map...

It is a bit disappointing to have such a major navigation feature missing in a product that is intended to aid in navigation...Any help finding out why the markers are absent would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Were you viewing Nautical Charts or Sonar Charts (FishNChip)?

Do you have all the Chart Details turned on?

    Thank for the quick reply.

When I downloaded the data to the card from Navionics, I selected all three available choices. They were Nautical Charts, Sonar Charts, and Community Edits. All three items appeared to properly download.

In the Elite 7 menu, I have a selection for chart data of "Lowrance" or "Navionics". "Navionics" is selected. Also checked are the boxes for "Waypoints", "Routes", and "Trails". I do not see any other settings where other map details can be selected ON/OFF.

    Elite7Menu.jpg

Note that the auxiliary boat lane marked by the Red/White circle show up, but the Red/Green north and south markers are absent. If there is a setting for map details to show/hide, I figured that all of these markers would show/hide together.

I use Humminbirds. I just downloaded Toledo Bend to my Navionics+ card for Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts.

All the markers are on the Nautical Charts.
The boat lanes are not on the Sonar Charts layer and some of the channels markers are not either.

I am looking West of Turner Creek on the main lake. My map curser is at N31 30.665 W093 43.914

Some runs have Red and Green markers and some have just Red ones.

If you have Sonar Charts (FishNChip) layer turned on, turn it off and only use Nautical Charts.
Nautical Charts is Navionics data, Sonar Charts is not, but has some parallel features. Getting the same features on both is a work in progress.

Thanks...The image I uploaded is roughly centered at 31°20'37.70"N, 93°38'27.34"W, just south of Boones Crossing (Roughly at Arnolds on the La side).

Unfortunately the unit is at the lake with the boat and I am not. That being said, I suppose I need to find something that selects the sonar Charts Vs the Nautical Charts, but I have been reviewing the manual for the unit and have not seen any options other than the selection of Navionics vs. Lowrance that I showed an image of. I cannot find any reference to "FishNChip" in any of the Navionics or Lowrance documentation (maybe a Hummingbird thing?).

FishNChip is the map layer that Lowrance and Humminbird units can view on the Navionics+ and Hotmaps Platinum cards.
It is the Sonar Charts feature that was activated for Lowrance units last year and earlier for Humminbird units.

With Lowance units you have to select Navionics to view Navionics mapping.
If you are still viewing Insite on your unit, you will not see the maps that are on the Navionics Web App and what you downloaded to the Navionics card.

When I view that co-ordinate, there are Red/Green channel markers North/South and a line of Red markers to the West on the Nautical Chart.
It has only the Red markers to the West on the Sonar Chart (FishNChip layer).

BUT on the Web App, all the markers are shown on Nautical Charts and Sonar Charts. What that means is Navionics is in the process of transferring the Sonar Charts features to the download server and have not completed that yet. That is why they are not on your map card on the FishNChip layer.

For a lake that size, it will take some time to get all of that done.

I have experienced that lag time on some waters I have been doing sonar logs for to adjust the Sonar Charts maps (FishNChip).

Someone that knows how to operate the Lowrance units can help you with displaying Navionics and its FishNChip layer.

The when you hit menu from the chart on the Elite 7 HDI you get this menu structure:

    Elite7Menu2.jpg

From there is you select "Chart ->" you get the submenu:

    Elite7Menu.jpg

On this sub-menu, the only choices are "Lowrance" and "Navionics". I have "Navionics" selected and can verify that it is using Navionics data by the extra detail and slow loading chart.

I do not find any "View" selection to choose to view any other layers (FishNChip, SonarCharts, or otherwise..)

Maybe the unit defaults to the SonarCharts data if it is available...how can I remove the SonarCharts data to leave just the Nautical charts on the SD card to see if the markers show up?

    lefyonly,

I don't have a Elite7 in front of me but one thing for sure you absolutly need the latest update to get access of all the options on you're Navionics. The latest version is V4.0

This may be the key to solving this. The unit was purchased new in June 2014 and has never been updated. I see the software release date is September 2014.

Thanks! I will post back when we have had a chance to update it!

No, the satellite views, 3D and photos are only on the Hotmaps Platinum version. There is no upgrade for that.
You get a year of Freshest Data updates and Sonar Charts with that version. It is regional only with preloaded maps.

Is there any way to do a depth offset using the Navionics Upgrade with a Gen2 HDS-12 Touch? Heading down to KY Lake in just over a month and it would really be nice to adjust the maps with the current pool level. Also on that note, is there a way to know at what pool elevation the maps were made?

Don't know if you own a mobile with the Navionics app on but look at this video:

Saw the video, I don't have the app - I'm going to take this answer as a no it can't be done on your Lowrance units?

No, Justin there's not. Navionics has the ability but the feature hasn't been made available for Lowrance units. This is why it works on the App and not on the chartplotters. Being both a Navionics and Lowrance user, I'd love to see this feature picked up by Lowrance.

Although it's not perfect, I do use the Shallow Water Highlight tool on my Lowrance to shade the shallow water to whatever the depths are missing. If it's 11 feet low, than I highlight from 0 - 11 feet. This at least gives me a better picture of what I really facing. Helps my find good humps, points and other high priority structures underwater.

This feature was made available through the Lowrance 2.0 update. Like I said, not great but still helps out if you don't have the App or at least until this feature becomes available with Lowrance.
