Re: johnson 115 faststrike question (buster502)

My understanding: the GL models for lack of a better description, were a factory sooped up model, the lower unit intake holes are lower so you can run the motor higher on the transom without worring about low water pressure, the rev. limiter is factory set at 6,400 rpm. What the internal differences are, I don't know, but I turn my GL model at 6,400 all the time.....This motor loves higher rpms. There a great motor.....

60 degree loop chraged vs. crossflow
the gl love the rpms, turn-6200 most days on mine,
Biggest differece is the holeshot vs th ecrossflow motors

I run a 24 pitch Raker, modified by Rich Bogar,I also have a 25 pitch Renegade, carries the boat a litle better but slower on speed.....

Re: johnson 115 faststrike question (buster502)

your right in a way, however, you may be able to raise your motor a little more to compensate for the larger pitch prop. Having a stock prop. modified to suit your boats setup helps alot, I gained 3 mph by having Bogar work my prop. I was able to raise my motor 3/4 of an inch after modification....There are alot of factors involved, do you have a jackplate? What size? How much does your boat weigh? how many batteries in the boat, what condition is the hull in,one can lightly sand the running surface of the hull,to clean up the surface scratches so the boat has less drag in the water, does your 22 pitch get the boat up and out of the water, less boat in the water means faster speeds...

Re: johnson 115 faststrike question (buster502)

I have a fish and ski, set up to pull me on slalom, run a 17P Viper at 44 GPS, putting a plate on it this winter, and have a 19 run, had mark work it and vent it also plan on getting a bryan foil so I should not lose any holeshot. That is the plan, a 50 GPS fish and ski that will pull me out on one with ease
