Ride, drive and fish out of any brand and model you are considering. Only YOU can decide which is best for you.

I have owned both Mtn Home and TN built Champs since 1990. If I were buying new, I would have to stay with the hulls I prefer. In my case, that would be the Stratos Champion Elite 202. The Stratos Brand Manger is the former Customer Service Manager of Champion/Stratos, and knows and cares about our rigs and the buyers.

That will definitely be a tough decision. Those would be the two I look at if I ever am able to buy new again. Test rides and tours of the plant would be the only way to decide.

Probably Champ elite first choice. Then Legend. I like the way BCB has their bilge/battery compartment laid out it is the best I've seen hands down! Top cap styling though is still retro 90's to me. I do like the new Eyra though.

If I were buying new, I think I'd still go with the Elite Series. Other than the rebadge to Stratos, I don't see that PE is really doing anything bad. I also don't see Stratos doing anything that will cost them sales down the road by doing away with a hull that has a loyal following. But if Champion is definitely out of the question, I think I would look seriously at Legend first. I think BC has a great hull, but like stated above think their top is a bit dated.

Re: If you where buying new (george liles)

I was in the same position that you are in last fall. I honestly think "IMO" that Champ will never be anything more than a step-child to the PE ownership. Yes, they did keep 3 hulls but in all fairness , if they wanted Champ to succeed , they would have kept more. Only the bigger profit margin Elite's , sorry but wake up and smell the coffee.
I looked at 4 different companies-Phoenix, Bass Cat, Legend and Skeeter. It came down to the Mountain Home boats- Legend and Bass Cat. Chose the Legend after my dealings with my local Rep because of fit/finish, deck layout and the feeling I get from the ownership. Both boats are awesome, just small differences you will have to decide on.
Good luck with whichever one you choose . If you are ever in the Southern Ohio area I will gladly let you take a spin in my Alpha to compare.

If you are near Minneapolis, Wayne Diederichs will be at the show with a new Alpha 211. Ask away to him. You can also set you up with a test drive with Simply Fishing marine in Wyoming. If you would like to speak with your Legend Rep for the area Wayne's number is 815-277-7875, and he would love to answer any questions you may have.

I was also in the same boat in 2005 when I became unhappy with my skeeter dealer. I actually went to Mtn Hom just to pretty much buy a cougar ftd. Went to the Legend plant also and ended up putting a deposit on an LE-21. Haven't looked back since. I'm on my third Legend and could not be happier. Their attention to detail, constant innovation, comfort, and customer service is really second to none. They really did treat me like family.

Both make and excellent boat. Both are a great company and people. Both are made in Mt. Home Arkansas. Out of the two? I'd be tough, I go demo the hell out of both of em and find what best suits my needs. I'm really diggin the BCB Eyra.

If that were my choices, it would be the Cat.

    Re: (pmgoffjr)

as far a PE goes, as a Ranger owner I think things have actually improved just in the short time they've been there, much better than Genmar. Back to your question I would stay with the new champ. built in the Flippin plant, sweet looking boats, now with custom built Champ. trailers and boat covers. I have always liked Champion seats better than any others.
