Anybody install a thru-hull transducer on their 198? I have to replace mine for my 520C in the consol.Looks like the oil tank has to be removed so that I can get the cover off to get to the bottom of the hull,looks like the onboard charger may have to be removed also.
Also,how hard is it to run the new cable to the head unit?(it doesn't look to easy).

Did one two weeks ago, you do have to remove whatever is in the way to get down to the inside of the hull. Feel around the starboard side of the hull just inside the transom, up high, and look for a pull rope that Champ left in the boat. Then pull the breaker panel under the console and look for it on that end. If you can find both ends, pull the trans cable from back to front as it is easier to pull the electrical connectors than it is to pull the transducer itself. If you cannot find both ends (I did not) pull the cup holder next to the driver seat and push a stiff cable, something like an old shift cable, from front to back and use it to pull the transducer cable thru.
