New Champion 206 in the Shop! Pics added!

Picked up that 2001 206 w/yam 225...Oh my gosh....It's cleaner than I thought. Can't find one spider crack, dent or ding in boat. Guy had a toothbrush in the cupholder. Asked him what that was for and he sheepishly said he used it to clean the rail on the boat! He has extra stickers in case needed, etc etc...Probably only thing that needs attention is the cover. I looked real hard at a 2009 Ranger staff FLW boat that had about 50 hours on it. I'm telling you this 2001 was maybe a notch at best below the overall clean of that boat...Pretty stoked! I'll probably have some questions down the road and will try to get pics up asap...Thanks for the help all....Can't wait to get in on the water.

nice boat and watch out columbia river. brownlee sucks this year. no really it sucks. over 80 a day and not 1 over 1.5 lbs. 8 - 9 catfish each trip ranging 2.5-6lbs on tubes and jerks. i love my champion and the fury i fell hard far.

Re: New Champion 206 in the Shop! (ilovesmallies)

I think this boat is a tad shorter than my 521 Ranger, maybe a bit wider deck and more of a rear deck. I think they accomplish this by smaller consoles etc...Amazing quality...I've owned five Rangers and this Champion is every bit the boat for sure. I read concerns that it was huge, but I'd say very close to my 521 and I''m 6'5" so I really like the bigger deck, seating etc....Won't get it on the water until friday. Is there a thread on here that gives some setup or prop recommendations for this 206/225 Yamaha? The guy I bought it from was running some pretty consistent 68-69's but had his prop polished and worked and said he's lost a couple MPH. It has a mercury tempest on it. Any recommendations would be good. I know it's not a boat for speed, but I'd like to at least get the most potential out of it. Thanks,
    Jeff

25 T1 v-max prop is worth a try. I would think running heavy you are looking at 65 but should cruise in the low 50's all day.

Very, very good choice. i can't comment on the yamma setup cause i have a Merc. As for the 68-69 ,that's going to be pretty close to what you can get out of a 206 with a 225. Now, moveing on, You have just bought IMO one of Champions best. It is a kitty kat, room, ride, fit and finish on and on and on. Heck man get in it and go you won't look back. Oh yea congrads!!!!!!!

T-1 seems to be the prop of choice, some have had good luck with the Fury. 3 1/2" is the starting point but that boat seems to like the Yamaha up high with a 250 and it might not be any different with the 225. Experiment up high.

Welcome to the club.... Now you will see what all the talk is about the rough water ride. Assuming you fish that bad@55 fishery down the road (Columbia River), which gets pretty rough.

Re: New Champion 206 in the Shop! (clanderman)

Very nice, I have a 2004 206 with a rude 225 and also run the 25P tempest plus its a good set up on the boat and when I asked all around that was the prop everyone said did the best. Your speed is about the best I have gotten with mine as well so I would say your there. I also agree with the above, I have had Rangers and Tritons and riden in many other makes of boats out there and this 206 is hands down the best riding, fishing, crusing, all around boat I know of you are going to love it I can't see going to any other boat out there ...OK maybe a 210 but thats about it.
