    Now for something *completely* different...

Let's go chase some redfish across an ankle deep flat...just snagged this unit, 16' all aluminum, 90 jet, hull weighs 300 lbs. Pretty slick little rig, not too many potlickers will venture to follow this thing..

Looks cool Pat, from what I can see

I don't have shallow saltwater experience, but have run a 16' flat bottom with a prop motor in some mighty shallow water - learned real quick, when in doubt, don't slow down

The look on the faces of the people crossing a footbridge when I came full bore around a bend in a very small river was priceless, let off, stuck in sand...thank goodness for the sand

It'll go just scary shallow...when you can feel a stingray when you bump him, you're pretty thin...here's a better shot, nothing under the bottom at all.

Does it have a tunnel in the hull to provide water to the jet, or is it just sucking water from the swell?

It's a tunnel to the jet. About 2 1/2" high with splash guards around the jet intake. We took off sitting on the bottom in ankle deep sand, just eased into it to get the tunnel moving and right on up and gone, then ran it in even less....

Oh, and to answer the next question "does it turn?" err, not worth two dead flies.

You slide it to *here* then hit the throttle to point it *there* and hope you haven't slid up on the marsh bank. The key slot transoms are great for holeshot, keeps the back from sinking down on take off, but they work so good, it's like an upside down frisbee in the water.

I've been in a few sleds, and they would run across dew with 4 people on board. But they had props, and they took some water to get up on top.

Talk about a shingle, just give it a flick and hang on!

So, will it be covered in slime and scales this weekend?

I'm hoping it will...if Alex will allow it. Fishing should be unbelievable when we can catch a tide that'll pull all this flood stuff out of the lakes.

I've seen several of those over here but none of them were aluminum. You think it was "homemade"?

Enjoy, and she will be fine once the first fish is hooked if you can get her to go.

Re: Now for something *completely* different... (iron banks)

Here's a google earth shot of some of the country....all the redfish are in those little ponds and lakes, access by those little skinny passes and cuts.

All the potlickers are *there* wishing they had something to get to them in.
