    Different Champ Materials?

Throwing it out to those that may know.

Did Champion ever build rigs with anything other than gel/glass? I heard of the klegcell before but thats it. Maybe Kevlar? Just curious.

    Re: Different Champ Materials? (MMosher)

They built a few kevlar, but the truth is, it ain't all it was hyped up to be..you can ask gramps about this, but from what Lance and others showed me, kevlar has a nasty little habit of acting like teflon to resin, sort of sheens it away, making a good solid bond very difficult.

I know a couple of my boats they tried some new resins, and some quad and tri-directional NiTex laminates. Don't forget about the "liner" hulls, those were the best (and worst) I've ever ran.

The klegecell was used to replace stringers, along with NidaCore deck support and transoms. They are all out there...somewhere.

If I could *ever* find my '97 202 I'd trade two dogs and a truck for it..all Klegecell, NiTex and Nidacore, some mysterious Nestie resin, total boat weight was under 900 lbs, along with the XB 250 on it, (with 225 decals of course) it was a bring on all comers killing machine. I'm sure it's sneaking around NW Arkansas somewhere, white hull, red/yellow/black gel fade, with tri color cap insert, grey seats w/red-yellow accents. Twin tanks, two 2800 gph bilge pumps, and it had a great white troll motor on a galvanized tandem trailer. Single console of course...

I just hope it isn't someone's cattle trough now.

Any pictures I had of that rig were piled up in the front yard and burned by the ex. seriously. Along with anything else fishing related that was at hand. It was a big pile too...

They very well could have because I remember having them *here* when I promised, and that was the last time I saw them.
