Hole shot plate (Mounts on bottom of jack plate) Do you have one?

Has anyone mounted one of the hole shot plates onto your jack plate and if so did it really help the performance?

I stumbled onto this when I was looking at the C&O parts website. A picture of them and description can be found in the parts listing under the title on the left hand side called "Hole Shot Plate".

Some folks use them, some put basket balls inside the plate. Supposed to keep the water from plowing up between the plate and the hull.

My Bob's hydraulic came with one already mounted. Since I never ran it without, hard to say, but I suspect it helps by doing as ChampioNman just said...
