    champion 198 question

What size rods will fit in the lockers of a 198?

Any experience on this boat with an evinrude 225?

Looking at a used 2005 elite.

    Thanks,

    Jon

I have a lot of 7' 6" flipping sticks in there with no problem!

You'll really like that boat! I have the yam. ! ?

The brochure says 8' max, but does not specify whether in a rod organizer or with organizer removed.

    I have a 225 Optimax on my 05 198 Elite. I love this boat!!!

Re: champion 198 question (champion jon)

ok thanks....I have a couple 7'11" rods that should be able to fit then!

The evinrude is the only thing I really don't know about. Seems like most people run a yami or a merc.

Also it has a single axel trailer, but I expected a boat this big to have double axel?

Those of you that have the 198, does it leave you wishing you have a 210, or is it big enough? I want to get it and keep it for a while without wishing I had somthing else.

    Thanks again,

    Jon

Plenty big enough for me....!!! I have run a 210 and it is magnificent, but I am perfectly content with my 198.

The tandem trailer was an option....I know Duane Harpers' 04 had the single. If your garage is tight, the single is easier to manuever...

198 plenty for me. I would take it out for a test run like any hull. That will answer most of your questions

Re: champion 198 question (iron banks)

I say single axel is fine, easy to push ! Double axel is good for long cross country trips, if you take them!

I say the 198 is great! If you run the big ponds, like the great lakes, bigger is never big enough!
