Went to pre fish LOZ on friday for a tourny and took my mother who was down for a vist. It was the first time she'd been in a Champion in 25 years. She commented that my 202 was a big differnce from pop's old 16'8 and kept commenting on how "modern" everything was. I was getting the boat ready and told her I needed to unhook the battery charger. She asked where it was cause she would help and I pointed in the boat and unplugged the cord, she thought that was "neat". I went to fuel up and she asked if I need to buy oil and add it to the gas, I pointed to the 3 gallon oil tank and explained how it worked. She just shooked her head and said boats have come such a long way since the last itme she'd been in one.
Out on the lake the wind picked up and made it just god awful fishing and running but we still had so much fun. The water was rough, bad rough. She said that a few times in the really rough stuff she held on a little tighter and was amazed how we just cut right through em and how Champs still had the same smooth ride. We were fishing a main point and heard a boat coming "thump, thump, thump" Ma said "That sounds like a Ranger." She was right. I just giggled to myself about that one.About 2 Oclock a rain storm came in. We cleared a point and I could smell the rain and feel the temp change. I pulled the TM and by the time we fire up the engine the rain hit us. Luckily we were only about 2 miles from the ramp but it was still a stingy ride back.
Yes she caught more fish than me. Yes, my 63 year old mother who hasnt been fished in years kicked my a$$.Hey what can I say if their biting on a spinner bait she'll tear ya up. Here's a few pics.
Really enjoyed spend time on the water with her again. We sure did have fun.
