    looking for overall performance

let me apologize in advance for my indecisiveness/inexperience. i have finally decided to go with a rapid jack, thanks to you all, (pat).but can't decide what offset. i love my champ! and don't want to hurt her transom. Im not a boat racer and im realistic,my 1998 181 elite, 1998 opti 150, is never going to be a peel your eye lids back bow high screamer. my girls main job is to put me on the fish. then keep 'em alive, which it does flawlessly. my rig preforms really quite great right now except for my inability to tame her wobblies above 55. Im leaning towards 4" rapid, which will push hydraulics, hoses, ect off and out of my splash well and off my dad . my 24p trophy is at 3"below pad now, so i don't think it will benefit from any height? i plan on keeping her till death so if its going to weaken her transom ill skip it. well 4" 6" thanks for any opinions .

Is there some sort of Champ wedge or something?

He was in such a hurry for any answer...

The proper answer is a 6" rapid jack with "champ" offset, and then go find you a nice 24 Tempest to hang on it, set it at 3 1/2" and you'll pick up a good chunk of speed over your current setup.

Re: looking for overall performance (littlemule)

I had a 98 181 with a mercury 150 efi and a 24 pitch trophy. I had my dealer (Nicholes Marine) install 8" jack plate. I put it 3.5 below that pad. It would run 65 loaded . I had concerns about it being to much set back. Royce at Nichols in Norman OK. Assured me that that was the best choice and he would honor if anything ever happened to it. I owned that boat for 10 years and never had a stress crack in the transom. The setback helped the chine walk some but your still going to have to drive it.

That will be the most difficult part. I recommend you find a dealer that will let you try before you buy. The 24 tempest is not the most consistent prop out there, and working a bad prop is like putting lipstick on a pig. Working a good prop is good, working a bad prop is usually still not as good as an original good prop.
