    200H.O Top end revs

G'day everyone, i would like to know what sort of top end revs i should be seeing my 200 H.O spin too. I have had many conflicting stories here in oz. 1 dealer says 5500 another says 5600 my idea was to keep it to 5800 as my dealer instucted but i noticed last trip out that once it clicked over 50 hours that it has picked up 1.7mph on gps and is showing 6000rpm on the taco, is this to high or am i worried about nothing. From what i was told i didn't think it would spin past 5800 rpm.

    Cheers Damien

I've always been told 5800rpm is max to aim for with them and that above that, they dump in heaps of extra fuel and oil to protect themselves.

The dyno graphs I've seen say that the 225 makes the same horsepower at 5500 and 6000rpm.

If you run up there lots, you should aim to pull the RPM back a little. If you care mostly about holeshot and can control your top end RPM by not winding it out so far, then stick with what you have.

A little prop work would increase your speed....

Since you are in Australia, I would recommend precision props in melbourne. They do excellent work. Tell them what you want, send it off and what you get back will be awesome.

Thanks guys i was under the impression that they would not spin past 5800. When i was doing prop trials it would not spin past 5800 be it a 24'', 25'' or 26'' pitch i ended up running a 26'' raker 2 and as i don't have a jack plate it spun to 5750. It is only since the motor hit 50 hours that it has spun it to 6000 rpm. May just be that conditions were spot on to get top performance on that weekend. I will just dial out a bit on the hotfoot so as not to go past 5800.

    Thanks Damien
