    PLEASE HELP 190 FISH HUNTER

I have this thread in the main area, and was advised this may be a more suitable spot.

New to Champ ownership. Bought a 98 (mint condition) 190 Fish HUnter with a 225 EFI (Trophy 4 blade), 6 inch Panter maunal jackplate, 9.9 Bigfoot, 101 Terrova, 2 onboard chargers Trollmaster, 7 inch TV on dash with stereo with DVD player, Lowrance 38 and 28 both with HDs.

Top speed fully loaded (with 2 of the 4 batts and both chargers in the bow) is 55ish. I apologize I havent written down all of the exact numbers. 2 guys nearly gutted boat hit 59.9 GPS speed. When I moved the 2 bow batts into the back I gained just under 5 MPH and was ticking 58+ pretty regular. Boat seems to be running a bit deep, not up on the pad nice at all.

    Plans are:
    1) move 2 batts and chargers to the factory original area under splashwell
    2) bump up jackplate in 1/2-3/4 inch increments until H2O pressure drops, lose bite with prop, speed drops, or handling is negatively affected.
    3) possibly get prop tuned and blueprinted.
    4) adjust other weight in the boat and unless water is extremely rough Id burn fuel off of the aux tank (the tank nearest the bow) to get a bit more bowlift.

I am at or very near max WOT, and dont quite yet plan a different pitch prop unitl I get the other items addressed first as those changes may bump up the WOT RPMS freeing up the boat a bit.

Current prop is recommended, and BWB mag did a test with similar setup and got 63 MPH top end. Prop is perfect, no nicks or scratces.

Any other help, ideas, tricks, or tips? I am no newbie to boat ownership, but I am new to this caliber, style, and speed of boat. I also take no offense to any ideas.

I LOVE THIS THING, just want to see over 60 consistently loaded for tourneys...

What pitch is your prop? You may need to experiment. Basic recommendation regarding props is not always perfect for every boat, even of same model. Definitely move batteries, etc back to original location...

I believe it is a 24p. It is close to max RPMs now when she is freed up with less weight. Should be again when I free up with redistribution of heavy load.

My Merc man told me that the maximum power output is usually best at less than max allowable RPMs. Definitely sounds like you need to try several props...after you move the batteries and chargers back where they belong...

    Keep us posted...
