Looking at a 1999 191 with a 200hp merc. Any opinions about this rig are appreciated.

    Re: Champion 191 (jljr)

First, Welcome to BBC and the ChampioN forum ...you've picked the right boat and come to the right place!!

    I have a '00 191 Tournament edition ..and couldn't be happier.....

Have you taken any photos of it that you can post? What kind of shape is it in? Original ChampioN trailer? What's the seller asking for it?

A number of us here have 191's in various setups, so give us a little info, and we'll help you the best we can....

I ran a 1997 191 w/200 Merc EFI for 5 years. It was a great combination and served me well. Would love to run one with the new 200 Opti XS.

    I had a 97 191dc with a 200 yamaha & 10" jackplate. They are great boats.

I have a 2000 191. I love it. Handles great. Easy to drive. Apparently mine is a little faster than most. Runs 70-72 gps in cooler weather. About 69 in the current TX heat. Only thing you will need to make sure of is to have a 53" shaft trolling motor. You'll need it in rough water as the bow rides pretty high.

    Here's mine.

That's a mighty sweet 191 there Clayton! They made 'em good that year, didn't they?

Thank you. And yes, that was a fine year. I just wish I had the 25th anniversary steering wheel cap.

    Re: Champion 191 (LAChamp)

I've got a 2000 191 with a 200 Yamaha. I love it. With my setup I get low 70's loaded. It's not as stable as the Tennesse Champs and the bow sits pretty high out of the water due to the fuel being all the way at the back. You'll need a 50" shaft on your TM. Especially if you like fishing in the wind like I do. I really don't have any complaints. The upside for me is it generally outperforms most 20" rigs with a 225.

This is a great boat. Little bit of a hot rod but handles the the rough water like a larger boat. Easy to get around tight areas to flip and is a dream to put back on the trailer. I would not think twice unless you fished big water and then you might want to look at something in the twenty foot range. You will love how the nineteen footer tows compared to a twenty footer. I had a 190 and went to a 203 and could go back to a nineteen without thinking twice. I love the 203 but still miss the 190.

Me too. I've looked and looked for one. If I ever find one I'll prolly be too scared to put it on cuz I won't want to lose it.
I would think the the 190 would be an awesome boat, jljr.
