    Quality of CX models

    Hi Folks

I'm considering buying a 198 CX. From the pictures, it looks like the latches, carpet and some other finishing is not the same as the Elite. Unfortunately, I've not seen either in person.

I'm wondering how the quality of the CX series compares the the Elite. The prices seem quite low for a Champion.

Thanks in advance for any advice/opionions.

    Welcome! Glad you joined us!

The quality and finish (as well as latches and carpet) on the CXs is identical to the Elites. The difference between Elite and CX series is simply that some items which are standard on the Elites, are options on the CXs, and the switches (livewell, lights, etc) are touch pad on the Elites and rocker on the CXs. I have an 05 198 Elite. It is the same as the newer 198s.

Frequently, as newer models are added, some Elite models are moved into the CX series...The 206 and 198 are examples.

    Superior fit and finish!!!

Hi! I own a 2008 188cx and you will love the changes and room that Champion have made. I went over every little detail of both cx and elite series and found I could save with no loss.

Lea hit it on the head! Cx something may be an option Elite STD.

I would think a wise person would buy a CX and equip it for their own style that's what I did .

Quality cx vs elite are a 1 to 1 comparison.

A CX with the Champ ride I'll take that all day every day.

The only differences I see between the CX model and the Elites are suspension type seats (that aren't needed with the Champion ride) and BIOS gages. Otherwise you can option out a CX just like an Elite. To me, those two features weren't worth the extra cost of going with an Elite.

The 198 is a terrific boat.......I know you would be more than satisfied

The main diff other than options and the switches between the 183 elite and the cx has to do with rated HP. The elite is rated for a 175 and the cx for a 150hp.

    Love my cx!

Bought it 1 yr old off original owner, with standard equipment, & saved LOTS of $$$ to afford to customize to my liking!

Installed a MK Foretrex 80lb tm, 2 Lowrance 520C's, rod & storage locker lights through entire boat, & custom tackle storage in front center locker.
