tandem trailer upgrade

Hey guys. New here so please be gentle. I've tried to look around on the Boards and couldn't find anything, so, I'll ask. I was wanting to upgrade a single axle trailer to a double, for an '04 196. Champion dealers in my area are scarce, but, I was wanting to know if this was my best option? I know it's gonna be a little more costly that I wanted. Thanks!

I think I would call the Factory and talk with someone from Champion. You could get an idea of what it would cost and possilbe they could give you some direction on your closest option.

I know where a champion is that may be totaled out. The trailer might work for you as it's a tandem I believe. Rock Creek Marina in Perry, Ks. Give em a call they might even work out some sort of trade, who knows.

I know the tandems pull better, and I have an 01 196 with a tandem, but I like the single axle better. 2 less tires and 4 less wheel bearings to deal with and you can move them when you un hook from the truck !

It's actually a mute point for me now. The 196 with the single axle was one I was buying, but after driving to pick it up, it was misrepresented and in pretty bad shape. I didn't buy it. But that's OK, now back to having fun looking. I still feel somewhat lost since selling my last Champion 3 yrs ago. Thanks for the help.

I can't even envision that! I don't feel right if I'm not touching mine at least 3 times a week and using it at least 3 times a month.
