Set Up Champion 190 with 250 Pro xs

I owm a 190 Champion with 08 Mercury 250 Pro XS with 10,5" manual jack plate and 28" tropy plus......i was looking for setups in the BBC, and i saw many expressions like:
"Propshaft is 3.5" below the pad".

Propshaft i know what means, but what is the "pad", is it the bottom of the boat, the lowest part off boat that stays in contac with water?

Please explain me how can i get the best permormance with my boat.

Thanks and sorry my english.

Your not going to be able to find much info on that setup.

if you look at your drain plug. tha pad is directly below that. its the bottom of the boat.

Ok, thanks so much, now i undestand.

One last question, if the engine is 2 inches below the pad it should get better top speed than if its3,5 inches, is that correct?

Engine up = more top espeed

Engine down = less top speed

Is that right?

Thanks again.

No. 3.5" below pad is a starting point. Your best speed could be lower or higher. If you are not happy at 3.5 below, then move up or down in 1/4 or less increments until you find the sweet spot. And watch your water pressure!!!

A 250 on a 190? What year is your 190?

And welcome to BBC and the Champ forum!!

sounds like my kind of boat. you can only raise the motor so far before you lose water pressure or "bite" Too high and the prop will surface and your rpm's will go up but you'll actually lose lift and slow the boat down.

Have fun and wear your kill switch and PFD.

Peace,
Don<><

Yes, we do. It looks like a fine boat, but I cannot see any similarities to Champ in the small pics...
