    Prop or lower end problems????

    At the AllStar Night tourney last week I thought I might have spun my hub some.. When I launched, the boat just dug a hole in the water and took forever to come up on plain. Pulled the prop off and sent it out to be checked. Waiting for answer. Hope to know by Tuesday. But for some reason I reached down and spun the prop shaft after taking off the prop and it felt rough and I could hear it. I drained the lower unit oil that I had changes some 6 months back but it looked a bit dark but no signed of metal in the oil. The upper and lower magnetic plugs had some minor metal filings but looked to be normal to me. Whatever nornal is...

    Anyone have I idea here. Should it feel that way and should I be able to hear it when I turn the shaft? Does it sound like I have bearing issues??? Goes into gear, no slipping out of rear, etc.

    Ideas???

    If you have another prop to try, that's what I would've done first before sending my prop.

    Wondering about the "feels rough and he could hear it"...that does not sound good to me....

    It could be the wrong thruss washer, I had this problem and went to a larger one and no more problems.

    Depends on motors on Merc/Mariner some "ratchet", Yamaha and BRP are pretty smooth but unless you pull on the prop shaft to make sure you are in neutral you may have some grinding especially if the motor is trimmed up. But 6 months after a LU fluid change the oil shouldn't be black. It didn't smell burned did it?
