Headed up next monday with the Champ to the big pond for smallies

I am headed up to Sturgeon bay WI (AKA Green bay) next week for some small-mouth action.

Boat will have 3, me, buddy and my grandson we might have to do some wandering based on some of the recent Door County fishing reports. That is unless any of you would share a hot-spot or two via IM?


Anyway I will feel safe having a child in the Champ should the water get rough.

If I do any good should I post the pictures?

Used to live a few hours north of there, didn't fish it much but fished the Bay De Nocs a bunch, you will have a great time. Many different species (incidental) to catch keeps it interesting.

Have all your safety gear and let someone know where you are going and when you are supposed to be back.

Terry you're heading to my back yard ...... The big bay (Green Bay) can definately get rough in the right wind conditions..... But 5 - 6 # smallies are not uncommon..... Check out Larson's Reef...... Riley's Bay...... Little Sturgeon Bay.... Chicago Reef........ Sand Bay...... If you are heading north look into Horseshoe Bay...... and Little Harbor...... All are good spots that hold many smallies (post spawn)..... Keep a watchfull eye on you're map/graph as there are many rock humps and reefs that are not forgiving to the lower case/props..... Check you're (IM)

I was up there two weeks ago. I saw some fish swimming around, but could not get them to bite. I only had 3 hours to fish and stayed in Little Sturgeon Bay. Be very careful if you run around a lot. There are lots of rock and rock flats to take out your lower unit on.

The fishing was fantastic the week before we went up there, but it had slowed the day we were there. Hopefully the spawn will be in full swing and you will catch a lot of the nice smallies that are there. We didn't throw spinnerbaits, but I think we should have. Please post pictures.

Ok folks we caught a lot of smallies! The child is my 10 year old grandson and the big guy is a life long Friend of mine. Lures that worked: Tubes, grubs, and Goby Jr's. Get the kids started early!
