If the nipple is in the middle of the intake there is a cap that goes over the nipple. THIS MUST BE CAPPED. The nipple is not connected to any hose. Use Evinrude for your parts lookup and your shop manual for your hose routing. There are plenty of online parts stores that sell the parts. The air box has a nipple on the bottom for one hose and there is another hole on the top of the airbox for the other hose.

What is the purpose of the 2 hoses ?

There is only one nipple on the bottom of the airbox There is a 1/2" hole at the top.

I have been running Chris' reeds in my 04 225 HO for almost a year now and have not had any issues. I have put 30-40 hrs on them.
