New Minn Kota Fortrex on a 183cx??

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking at upgrading my bow mount from a 70lb maxxum to a 101lb Fortrex.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm if the mounting bolts on the new fortrex are in the same location as the bolts from the standard maxxum?

Also, what do I need to consider as far as circuit breakers and wiring etc as I'm upgrading from a 24volt to a 36 volt motor. Can I use the same circuit breaker and wiring?

Anything else I'll need to be aware of??

    Any advice appreciated.

    Regards
    Dave Young

    Thanks Dustin.

Some interesting info there, looks like it will be the goods!!

Still need to know about the screw holes being in the same location as the maxxum though.....

Hey Dave. I don't have any info, but I'd like to know more about this motor also. It looks pretty sweet. I have a Motorguide Brute 67 that works pretty good, but I had mk on my last boat and I kind of miss it. I'll be watching this page.

Should be at least a 30 amp circuit breaker (?), and Champion definately uses 6 ga wire.
If changing to a 36V, I'd go with a 50 amp breaker (if it doesn't already use one). The 6 ga wire will do fine.

    WOW! A 101 Fortrex on a 183! NICE!

I'm thinking of upgrading my MG Tour 82 lb next season...."thinking" about it. Thinking maybe a MK 24V Fortrex.

I run a 60 amp breaker on my 105 Motorguide.

You'll love the small boat big trolling motor combo! My 105 is on the front of a 184...
