    low fuel warning????

Anyone know if a 1999 193 elite has a "low fuel" warning alert? This past weekend I heard a beep (every 5 minutes or so) coming from the console while on the water and on dry land. The tanks are low so I'm hoping it's in regard to fuel level and not something else. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Darin

I would think it is more of a low oil alarm.

Info should be in the motor manual. There are several signals...one is, as Fred says, low oil. Another is over heat. Don't ignore and keep running without figuring out which signal you are getting...and fix the situation...

The only low fuel warnings I am aware of, are in the 08 and newer Elites which have the Actia BIOS gauges.

Thanks for the information. I topped off the oil tank (half full, added 1 gallon ) and will let you know if that was the cause. FYI - this is my first boat, should I keep the oil level full at all times? I check it frequently and seeing it half full was not a concern to me. Thanks again, Darin

Half full oil tank should not be a concern..

Need to know exactly what motor you have......In mine, there is a reservoir under the cowling...It MUST be full....

and do you have the manual??? Manual is a "must have" !!!!

The motor is a Mercury 200efi. I'll see about getting an owner's manual from Mercury. I have not been able to find a manual for the boat itself. Thanks again, Darin

Check the small reservoir on the front of the motor. That one needs to be FULL or you will get an occasional alarm. Also the lid needs to be tight. They have also been known to crack, which will cause problems. Check your owner manual for the procedure to fill the reservoir.

There's also some good info in this thread ... http://www.bbcboards.net...03766

Probably not going to find a boat manual, but they are pretty generic. Folks here can help with any questions you might have....
