    Trailer Brakes

I jus t recently got my new boat in, it took 13weeks to come in. That a another story. I'm having problems backing up, the trailer brakes lock up. The only way i can back up is to disengage the brakes.

Could this be something wrong with my truck i have a f-150 4x4 truck and i thought you would just hook everything and it should work

YOu need a 5th wire to the harness. When the backup lights come on that will engage the back up solenoid releasing the brakes.

Fred is right regarding trailer brakes. I had a flat 4 connector for my last 2 Champs. When I got this one, I had to get my truck re-wired to utilize the 5 way connector. Had to have a friend come over and back her into the garage the day I brought her home, since I could not back her up. Made some nice ruts in my lawn trying...

    Re: Trailer Brakes (brentl)

My buddy and I both had the same problem with our 2003 4x4 F-150’s. Both trucks were missing the relay (trailer tow back-up/park lamps relay) that sends power to the backup lights. We are both using a converter to go from the trailer connection (5 wire flat) to the round connector in the truck. I think the middle post (on the truck) sends the backup signal which releases the trailer breaks. The relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood. Your owners manual shows the layout. Hope this helps

    Correction

the fuse is called: trailer tow back-up/park lamps

the relay is called: trailer tow backup lamp relay

    You probally should check both.
