Welcome to BBC and the Champion forum!
Do you mean when did they move the fuel tank forward? Not sure exactly what you mean by "original hull".
Wide body change ("beam forward") came in with the 2002s, I think...Pat Goff is one of our best historians....he should be along shortly...
The "original" was a tri hull pad boat, 75-77 or so.
The "original" deep v was the 168. Any 86" beam boat is "original" and they made the 15 and 16 until 2001.
You need to be a bit more specific

I am sorry, I should have been more specific. I was asking about the deep V design that came after the tri hull. I found a 1991 184 DC with a 175 Merc that is 90% good with the other 10% being nothing more than one would expect from normal use with a 17 year old boat. I can buy it for $5500. From what I have seen, I think that to be a very good price. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks. gegolden
I just checked here on BBC Boats4Sale...and if your find is in good condition, sound transom, etc, your price sounds good...You can look in the Champion Boats4Sale to compare....
Thanks. gegolden

The 91 is an 86" hull ... the 184 is one of the boats in the Champion video pinned near the top of the forum page.

The 203 is a "wide body" compared to the 86" hulls ... it's 90"![]()
