1999 Evinrude 150 ficht

My motor has been running great. I recently had it serviced so everything has been fine.

Last week while on the lake, I cranked her up and heard what I would call a quiet backfire or popping sound and the motor immediately went to running rough. I ran to the ramp with no apparent problems and loaded the boat with no problem.(plenty of power)

I took her in to my local marine shop and the service guy told me it sounded like the "ECU".

After reading other post here, it does not sound like the same problem some of these other guys have had. It will be two weeks before I get any word(backed up for spring)back.

Does this sound like the ECU or what?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like it may be a fuel pump diaphragm, the back fire may have damaged it allowing fuel to enter the crankcase.
