These Evinrudes are tricky!!! Logic doesn't apply like it does with the Mercs. Thanks for the instructions, but that's not what I'm after. I know
how to replace the impeller into a "good" water pump housing. My problem is the seals,
O-rings and grommets have deteriorated to the point that they and the plate and cup
will have to be replaced too. I'm looking for proper placement of these items first, then
I'll follow your instructions for reassembly with the impeller. Sorry I wasn't more spec-
ific the first time around.
Not much to it. Disconnect the shift rod at the block, there is a screw that holds it on under the bottom carbs (shift to reverse), take the 4 bolts off the side of the LU, remove the torque tab and take that bolt out and the 5/8" head bolt in front of it and out she comes. Replace the complete kit the instructions are in the kit. I use a dab of grease to hold the key in place. use a piece of masking tape to hold the exhaust coupler in place on the mid section, slide it up and make sure you get the H20 pick up tube seated, you may need to turn the flywheel to engage the drive shaft.
Thanks Fred. I'll buy the kit and follow the yellow brick road.
