In addition to the M/N & S/N, please provide details of the exact procedure you use to "restart" the engine after stopping for a few minutest to fish (i.e. do you just turn the key to start, use the fast idle lever, choke it etc.)

OK, more info sorry for the delay, Mod# 140TL79R (1979?), S# J5161818. I stop, fish, I just choke and ture the key, if it does not fire up i turn up to the start position on the lever. also can i safely run this motor at say 5400 rpm, it says 5600 on the tag, This motor was rebuilt last year has less than 20 hrs.

After the first startup with the choke or whatever procedure you use, you should just have to bump the key to start afterwards. If you're choking after the engine has been run that could be your problem. Please be patient, the guys have a lot of questions posed to them every day and they are great at helping when they have the time to come aboard, sometimes they don't see all of them.

For starters, you might check your carbs for cleanliness. Then check your needle and seat and probably replace them with new. Most important, check your float level and set them at the correct level, you might be leaking fuel into the intake chambers after you shut down, this will definitely cause what you're describing. Hope this helps!
