After all that shopping. . .

She Who Must Be Obeyed strongly suggested that I find a used kayak rather than spend $850 on the Ride and then, if I really use it as much as I think I will, I can upgrade later.

I found a Heritage Redfish 14 with two flush mounts, a Scotty mount, an anchor trolley and anchor for $500. I don't think I will be able to stand up in it, but it should work just fine for my needs. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.

Redfish is a good platform. 14' will give you GREAT tracking and speed. It's pretty much like a Wildy Tarpon, Mad River Synergy, Perception Pescador. They all look similar. I have heard that the seat in the Redfish is a great one.

    Re: (Mr_Scrogg)

The Redfish came with an anchor system that only allowed me to anchor from the bow, so I installed an anchor trolley this morning to allow more anchoring options.

That's one solid rigging to do. Helps immensely.

You should post up some pics of it. Maybe with a little fish slime on it!! ;)

    Re: (Olebiker)

An anchor trolley was about the single best thing I did to my kayak.
