added a jack plate

I just installed a 6 inch manual jack plate to the back of my Rajun Cajun. WOW. At half throttle I used to plow the water with the bow up and never coming down. Now she jumps on pad even at half throttle. If you don't have one, it's well worth the money.

i have a 2050 FS and i ride bow up for almost a quarter mile, was it hard to install or did someone install for you?

I have a 1991 2050 f/s, I added a 4" jackplate as a spacer and a 6" manual adjust. huge difference in the hole shot and easy to install as long as you have a way to lift your outboard. I also have a low water pickup in the lower unit to jack it that much more out of the water for less drag.

The main concern was that the dual steering cables would reach with the 6 inch plate added. I was lucky and it did work out. It was an easy add, all I did was to support the engine from the joists in the garage. I used a come along tied to the joists and a gear puller screwed into the top of the engine (place on my engine for lifting it). and unbolted it from the boat pulled the boat forward on the trailer and slid in the plate. put the bolts back in and I was done. I also used some RTV/silicone on the bolts.

What was your gain on the top end? My 96 190 Ragin Cajun 190is in need of one and have been told by a few to go with an 8in, Im thinking about the Rapid jack, my top end is good and hole shot is excellent with my croxtonized tempest.

i own a '97 RAJUN CAJUN TOURNY EDITION, single console. it has a 200 hp johnson VENOM witha raker 21 pitch stainless prop. it came with a manuel jackplate already installed. yes i bought it used. i can get on plane within 2 mins if i want to. love this rig. it's 20'6" rides smooth as silk in rough water. the jack plate helps so much. if oyu are able, i sudgest you install one for oyurself. makes a world of difference. i am hoping to one day totatly restore the rig, but tight economy makes it hard to do.

Cajunking After adding the plate I felt the boat jump up on plane much faster. At WOT my RPMS are higher and I think I can go up a touch with a new prop and more pitch. Same top end, with the prop I have I now but lower RPM's.
