NEED HELP FAST WITH MY JOHNSON 150!!!!!!!!

Ok guys I need help fast!

I have a 1990 Johnson GT 150. I took it to the lake this weekend, it started fine, idled fine, but when I went to get up on plane and I gave it full throtle it would die. I tried several times and nothing. My dad took the cowl off the motor and looked into the carbs when I would give it gas and he said the butterfly valves would not open up when I gave it gas. I am not a mechanic by any means so I need help. A day or two before I adjusted the throtle cables at the motor because it would not idle just right, I thought I would adjust it to idle a little faster. Did I do something wrong by doing this? Is there any thing I can do so that I dont have to take it to a mechanic? I have a big tournament on the 19th and I dont want to miss it, thats why I need help.

    Thanks
    Bo

You need a factory service manual to fix what you screwed up..... or take it to a good E/J tech. I'm not being a smartxxs, just being honest.

Is there any chance at all that you can undo what you did to the throttle cables? If you can put her back where she was, you may be golden. Once you have that back in place you can get help with (or use a service manual) to adjust the idle.

I'm always amazed at what the slightest change can do to the performance of one of these things.

If you didn't mess with any adjustments other than the cable then disconnect the cable at the linkage and let the linkage arm go back to home. If you messed with timing advance or idle speed settings you will need to perform a sync n link.
