I've had a fair number of requests lately regarding information on Cajuns....let's see if a Cajun forum will be popular....there's a lot of owners out there
I can't put my hands on a Cajun logo anywhere, so the one at the top of the page will have to do for the moment

I had a couple of those things. An 85, 16 foot "Pursuit" with a 115 tower of power, we called "Grey Thunder". Engine had a 6" jackplate, and I ran a 21" SS prop. It would show 58 mph on the speedometer, and not many 18 footers with 150's would walk away from me.

Then I had a 87 Paul Elias Fishing Edition, with a 150 Mariner Magnum. Talk about a tank. That boat was tough. Not necessary fast, again 58 was about tops, but it would take water that I think would turn back a Coast Guard cutter. We called it "The Barge" and I spent the first two years I had it telling the dealer how much I hated it. He believed me. I'd tell him stuff like the boat threw a wake so high that tow boats would slow down, and turn into the wave when I came down the river. He believed me. Or how a sand loading station dumped a load of sand onto the front deck after mistaking me for a river barge. Then I went fishing with a buddy of his, and told him how much I loved the boat and he went back and told David. Ruined my gag. Drat. I wish I still had that boat. I'd have to put a basketball in the jackplate now though. It was a bit slow to get on plane with all the gas tanks and batteries in the back.

My compliments on the idea. I am still fishing out of my Cajun and from time to time, would like to interface with others concerning parts, maintenance, etc. Advise if I can offer any support.

Reply Just bought a 85 cajun at auction

As the subject says... I just picked up an 85 Cajun bass boat (16ft I believe) at an estate auction. It has a Mercury 115 on it. Engine would turn over but not start... (battery was low... and now other batteries in the boat for the trolling motor and such) I'm now searching for a reputable mechanic here in NW Arkansas.

Anyway... what I'd like to ask is... any ideas on where to get an old manual? Will also need a new windshield at some point.

    Thanks for any input!

Andy, I don't think there is any such animal. If there is I never saw one, and I had two Cajuns, including an 85, 16 ft one like you have. And I purchased them new. You might be able to get a manual for the engine from Mercury.

Do you know what model 16 fter you have? The one I had was called a Pursuit. It was the small end of the "Tournament Series that include the Ricky Green Fishing Machine. Built to the same standards as the big boats, but a smaller version. I think they made a less expensive version of the same boat then too, but I'm not sure. I know they did in later years.

The tournament series was the top of the line. If you've got a 19 foot BASS boat it's probally a TS. I don't think Cajun made anything over 17-6 in the lower lines, unless it's a ski and fish boat. Those were called Esprit's. They did have a Fish and Ski (note the different emphasis) in the tournament series. It was called a 185, an was the same hull as the Ricky Green and the Paul Elias, but had a double consol, and two jump seats forward of the consol, that could be turned over leaving hard carpeted floor to walk on. Good idea actually.

Have an 88 Cajun, Fiero, 16'. Looking for owners manual also. Have written Mastercraft to see if the can provide one. No response so far. If I find one I'll let you know. Hope you will do the same?

I had to replace a side windshield on mine. Your cheapest route and best as far as I'm concerned is to get a sheet of Lexan .125 thick. It want yellow or scratch like plexi glass. You can cut it with a fine tooth jig saw on low speed. The old wind shield will come off easy. There should be two pop rivets, I think they are 1/8 inch, on the top U channel, just drill them out, remove the U channel and slide the old glass out with the rubber gasket.

I just a week ago acquired a 1994 Cajun. I think it is just like it came from the dealer in Austin, Tx. Decals say "Travis Edition" and "175". Johnson trolling motor across the bow. 1994 Magnum trailer, 1994 Johnson Model J120TLARC, recently rebuilt. Boat serial number is MBVE2105F494. Two livewells, cable control under ignition key panel. Capacities are 5 persons / 750 pounds / 125 hp motor. I have the manual for boat, motor, Hummingbird finder, and trollling motor.

I've made one short orientation run at Canyon Lake and loved it!

I'm the kind that buys the books, studies, and tries to fix things myself. I'm in the process of learning about this boat, and would be happy to share information - although at this point I have more questions than answers.

    Best regards,
    David

Thanks DJ. I have two buddies that love to go fishing in my Cajun when the wind starts to blow. It has to be one of the best boats ever for rough water. One guy wears ski gogges cause you get real wet flying across the lake and of course it's hard to see with all the spray water blowing by. What a blast!
