    Did you know....

    I see occasional references to the "metalflake" on Cajun boats.

    Did you know that it's not actually "metalflake" but "polyflake." The way it was explained to me at one of the shows I worked, was that "metalflake" expands and contracts at a different rate than the gelcoat on the boat, but polyflake expands and contracts at the same rate, thus avoiding stressing the gel coat, and helping to prevent spider cracks in the gel.

    At least that's what the "company man" told me. I took his word for it. Never saw any reason not to. I never saw any cracking in mine.

    Of course y'all boats are a lot older than mine ever were.

    I will attempt some images this weekend of the section in the 1988 Buyers Guide where they describe exactly what you are talking about.

    I agree, my 1988 Gelcoat is in awesome condition.
