    New User

New forumite here and a Cajun bass boat owner. I recently picked up a Cajun but I don't know what model it is. I purchased it from the original owner and it's in excellent shape. The boat is '16-10' 2 live wells in the rear and 1 on the bow, there are 2 control consoles on the bow for the troll motor and live wells plus trim&tilt controls for the outboard, the rig is an '85 with an '85 Johnson 120. Do you guys know the model of this boat?
    Thanks!

I don't consider myself an expert on Cajun Boats by no means, but that looks like a Maverick to me.

    Re: New User (Suprtul)

Based off your pictures and the markings on your boat (if your boat is a 1985 built boat), I think my boat has been misidentified by the registration documents as an 1989 4 person "Runabout". My Cajun stickers are in the same location and the general form of the hull and nearly identical except my boat has twin consoles and no rod locker. Even the other livewell/torage hatches are nearly identical to mine. I am no Cajun expert, so I can't even guess what your boat may be. I can't seem to find any industry documentation or links with identifying photos on them aside from member pics posted here.

Sorry I can't help you out, I wish I could find some help identifying my boat as well (on the Boat Pics Thread). Unfortuanately any customizing done by previous owners (Upholstery and storage cover or deck replacements) they may have done will only make identifying it that much hard, not to mention my own changes to it. I hope to have finished photos soon once my windshields and seats come in (any day now).

What does the title say as far as year? look at the rear of the boat, right side should have a vin number and a year plate.

    Re: New User (Kevin R.)

Thanks for the response Kevin. Here is the VIN

    http://im1.shutterfly.com/proc...bs2NA

The data plate reflects an 89, so I guess it is an 89. But an 89 Cajun what. My other pictures are on the Boat pics thread page three. The boat is looking much better than the pictures there now, I am waiting to take new ones once the seats and windshield arrive and I can install them.

According to iboats and trying to match as much information that they have, iBoats sez it is an

1989 Cajun by Mastercrafters Espirit 168 Sport
This outboard bass boat is 16.58 feet long and weighs 750 (pounds dry). This weight does not account for passengers, fuel, or gear. The beam of this craft is 80 inches. The max horsepower for this boat on our records is 125 hp.

I guess that answers my question. Funny I couldn't find anything on the Cajun boats before worth a darn on iBoats.......

Maybe you can find similar information here:

    http://www.iboats.com/b/m/caju...eries/

Searching the Owners galleries it is kind of looking like a Ricky Green model based on the dual control panel on the bow. Like this:

These links may be of help as well, though I have not found any pictures on them.

    Re: New User (Suprtul)

I had a 1986 Cajun Maverick. It's very hard to tell from the photo's you posted, but it looks similar to the Maverick I had. The Maverick was 16'8" in beleive. Also, the instrument and bow panel don't look anything like the one's I had. So, I'm not really sure what it is!

    Re: New User (JackOH)

That is a 1985 Cajun "Pursuit." I had one like it, except mine was red. The Pursuit was the smallest entry in Cajun's "Tournament Series" and was built to the same standards at the other TS boats, (RGFM, etc.) They were rated for 120 hp with single cable steering, and for up to 140 with dual.

The Maverick was the very same hull, just not built like the Tournament series. The Pursuit didn't sell well, so Cajun dropped it back after a couple of years. I think 85 was the last year.

    You've got a gem there.

    Re: New User (Jcrews)

Well JC, it's nothing special. It just means I'm old enough to have been around "back then."

Just to maybe clear up a couple of things. Back in the 80's Cajun built three "levels" of boats. There was an "entry" level, a "basic" level, and the "Tournament Series." (Frankly I forget what the name of the entry and basic lines were.) The Tournament series boats were the top of the line, and had all the little goodies that I think of when I think of Cajun. The boats in that line were the "Ricky Green Fishing Machine," the "Pursuit" and the "175 Fishing Machine" and the "185 Fishing Machine." And later the "Paul Ellias Fishing Edition." (There might have been a couple others too.)

When the Pursuit didn't sell well enought to justify keeping it in the Tournament Series, (shoot, for what if cost with a 115, you could buy for example an 18 ft Procraft with a 150 almost.) They dropped it back and "cheapened" it for lack of a better term, into the basic line, with the "Ragin' Cajun" boats and it became the "Maverick" where it fit more in line with other boats in it's price range. We sold a fair number of Mavericks at "The Boat Center," but as far as I know we only sold two Pursuits, and one of those was mine. The only reason I went with the Pursuit was the dealer really wanted me in a Cajun and he cut the price down to his cost. I was going to buy the 18' foot Procraft even though I didn't think at the time I was ready to make that big a jump from the 16' Fisher I had been running. I had never even driven a boat with power trim at that time.

I don't have any good pictures of that boat for some reason. Here's a couple that I do have.

(That "little boy" today is 25 years old, and 6' 4" tall, and weighs about 275 lbs. )

    Re: New User (CajunBass)

Thanks for the info Wayne, I lost my big boat in Katrina and I always wanted a bass boat. I bought this low hours boat from the original owner who really pampered it. Everything works in it; livewells, console gauges and bow controls. It's a fun boat to drive. I'm getting 65mph(gps) with a custom made 4 blade prop.
