Looking into buying a cajun bass boat, help me please!

Hi, first off hello all. I am 23 and am looking to buy a cajun bass boat soon. I know the style boat I want and I thinks it's a cajun but I'm not sure, it's says that it is a nissan.

    http://www.usedboats.com/enlar...ption

Is it worth buying and redoing? Do you guys think that it is a cajun?

Think it kinda like this boat but older.

I tried to find more information but didn't find much except that cajun made them for nissan. I think I might go get it if the floor is solid has small hole in hull due to a trailer roller and a bent grab rail. Put my johnson 115 on it and redo interior.

    thanks for any help,
    Chris

First off Chris, welcome to Cajun Country. Have never heard of Cajun building boats for Nissan but that don't mean it didn't happen.

Now I gotta tell you something you won't like hearing if you have your heart set on the Nissan boat. From looking at the picture of the boat it is apparent that the boat has been T-boned. The top cap is torn, the rail is bent, and the rub-rail is torn from the mounting. I would be VERY afraid of a lot if internal damage. If you buy this boat make sure you do a thorough investigation of the hull and interior for stress cracks and other damage.

    Happy hunting...........DJ

Well the guy selling it at the yard said that it had some glass damage due to front roller on trailer going into hull of boat (about 4 inch round circle). I'm going to go see how bad everything is in the morning and jump around hard on the floor. The price is neg and is fairly cheap. Any other tips on checking for things I'd wanna know, It got all the paperwork too.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Check the steering for play and easy steer. partially extend the tilt and stand on the cav plate of the motor. The bow of the boat should lift without any play in the transom. A 4" hole is a big azz hole, that ain't gonna be an easy fix. Hear the motor run, if they won't start it RUN, don't walk away. Don't take anything to put it on the muffs and fire it up.

Too much money. Half would be closer and I would still be leary.............

I was in the same situation you were in a couple years ago. If it were me I would pass and wait on somthing that you won't spend all your money on fixing. I have a Cajun and it is on the for sale boad here on BBC.

You can do better. I only paid $2000 for this 84 Ricky Green and its in mint condition! Keep looking, there are plenty of good boats out there looking for a new home.

That boat looks like its been in an accident.
That's some serious damage to the hull.

It had part of a rather large tree fall on it during a windy storm. Well I bought it anyways for almost nothing without the motors. They were both old and I was planning on replacing the 90 with a johnson 115 v4 I have anyway. Going to buy a newer 82 lbs motor guide sometime. Going to give it a complete restoration. I will post some after pics when it is all complete in a couple months or so, and you guys will never beleive it is the same boat. Thanks for all the input.

By the way I'll post pics soon boat is redone for the most part; new floor transom and glass paint and flake. Needs new carpet and seats and little misc. Mated it up with an 80's mercury inline 6 115hp. Found out it's not cajun nor nissan but has tidecraft id in hull serial.
