XP180 90 hp Yamaha prop pitch

Guys, anyone with an XP180 w/90 four stroke have any input on the best pitch/diameter prop? Ordered new boat and would like to make sure dealer gives me best all around for my setup. Boat gets on plane, RPMs max out, takes tight turns without blow out, pulls tube riders OK. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully someone with your setup will chime in. I would think a good 4 blade would be your best bet for what your wanting.I'd look at a Merc Trophy and a Turbo FX4 in a 15"-17".

Please keep us posted on the performance with the F90 once you get the boat. I always wondered about how the boat would handle and perform with the F90 but I couldn't find anyone with one when I was ready to purchase.

I've got an F90 on an H18 (w/ 6" jp) and Spanky talked me into a 17p Trophy Plus.
I just got it late last week and ran it for a few hours this weekend.
Before, I had a 15p PowerTech that was getting me 38-39 mph at 6200 RPM.
The Trophy bumped me up to about 41 mph at 6000 RPM.
I didn't adjust the motor height (I think it's at 4"), but I did notice that I trimmed out a little higher with the new prop.

If your water pressure is still good,move up 1/4" and try it.If it improves,go up another 1/4.When you loose water pressure,speed,or lift drop it back down 1/4''. Your rpms will go up as you lift the motor.Just watch the water pressure as you raise it.

My water pressure is fine.
I don't think it ever got under 20 psi while on pad.
If I raise the motor another 1/4" and my max RPM's go up, can that get me into any trouble?
The full-throttle RPM range given by Yamaha is 5000-6000.
If I consistently run it at 6200+, will that do any damage?

When you raise it a up,you wont notice a big jump in rpms at 1/4'' at a time,and a few rpms over won't hurt in these colder months and with lighter loads.Both my old 90hp 2 stroke and my current 115 has always been propped so they are over the recommended range which is 5000-5500 on them,and i always liked to spin them close to 6000.If your not on the rev limiter,i'd say you were good. I'd see how it does as it the weather warms up,and if it's a tad small you can get a good prop guy like Croxton to give you another inch in pitch to bring it down a little.
