    2000 202 pro V questions

I am looking at a 2000 202 pro V with a 1995 Merc 225 XRI. The owner has done nothing to improve performance since he bought it new, So it is not impressive at all. My ? is how will this boat run with a 2003 200 EFI Merc, . I have a 2003 200 Merc in mint condition and would like to put it on this boat but I have no idea how it would perform. Also this boat had no bow lift , Is it supposed to run flat? or is it supposed to lift the bow a little ?. What speed should I expect with a 200 EFI?

    Re: 2000 202 pro V questions (ppgpro)

I would expect with the 200 that boat would run 65-70mph, probably closer to 70. The bow lift is probably due to the prop. I would think a 24-25pitch trophy or tempest would run pretty good. Motor Height could also effect bow lift.

    Re: 2000 202 pro V questions (bentrod202)

It has a 10" jack plate, With a 25" trophy prop. The owner has done nothing to improve the performance . In fact he has only run it up to 60 mph, We took it for a test run and I got it to go 74 mph. The owner nearly craped on himself. What concerns me is No bow lift at all. It also chimwalks at 72mph

The chinewalk will magically be a non-issue with more seat time ... Lowering the motor on the jackplate will lift the bow, but , I think you need 14-15 inches of setback... You could add a 4-5 inch spacer plate or install a new jackplate with 14 or 15 inches of setback...You will need to play with the jackplate height to find the sweet spot that gives moderate bow lift and best speed and handling... good luck...
