    175 johnson/carburatored

I am having trouble with my 1999 johnson 175. It will run ok to start but the more I turn it off and on It will start and die and repaet many times. the only way to stop it from doing this is to keep the choke pushed in. I have to do this until I get up on plain. then it will run ok until I turn it off again. Things that I have done so far.
    1. New power box
    2. New fuel lines
    3. New water/fuel seperature.
    4. Changed carebureators. Not new.
    5. Changed plugs frequently.
    6. Seafoam in the fuel.
    7. Had timing checked several times.

I am at the point of burning it or selling it.

left side of the engine mount bracket about halfway. It should start J175GLXXXX where X=letters.

I have an 04 175 johnson and it does the same thing. I just give the bulb a sueeze or two before I start it up again and it runs fine. What we are experiencing is "heat soak". When we turn the motor off it is very hot and some of the gas actually boils out of the carbs. A squeeze or two and the cold raw fuel fills the carbs. There is no cure for this from what the tech"s say. Hope this helps.

Just a guess, but why not replace the primer bulb with a new one from bomb be worth a shot, sounds like a fuelissue to me, but I am not a rude tech.
