    Boat test numbers

Well I finally got time to run my boat with different props and post some numbers. My prop shaft is about 1 1/4 below the pad. 08 202 w/250 pro xs w/ full tanks and all fishing equipment. The best pass was 82.3 with a 27 tempest. I also ran a 26 and 27 trophy. The 26 top speed was 76.7 and the 27 trophy ran 81.4. I think I'll just stick with the 27 tempest until I get time to try one of those TXP props. JUst wanted to give you guys some numbers.

I am surprised you are getting those speeds with the prop as deep as it is? Those numbers are more like what you should see with the the motor height tweaked at or near even with pad. Unless you are measuring wrong you should have the fastest 202/250 XS combo I have heard about when you raise your motor.

If you run any higher than that with a Tempest your taking a risk of blowing out at high speeds. My guess is if he raises any higher he would just slow down with the Tempest. However with the trophy your not high enough. That trophy should run 2 inches higher than the Tempest if water pressure will allow and within a half a MPH and handle better. If and only if the props are worked to the same quality.

What really surprises me is that my speed doesn't drop but afew miles per hour with my partner and all his fishing tackle! The boat really toats a load good.

Calvin, I would leave it alone. That is good for a tourney loaded boat and without a different lower unit, you won't get much more out of it. If the hole shot is good, and it runs good loaded with 2 people, just go fishing.

    Re: Boat test numbers (calvin202)

I am curious to see what happens when you try the motor higher . My boat drops the bow and loses speed if I go any higher than where you are. How is your Tempest vent plugs setup? On my boat with all the plugs out the holeshot was acceptable with the Tempest but in real rough water at low speed it loses bite too much. ---mike

All of my plugs are still in just like they were when I bought it. Holeshot is good all the way to top speed. I haven't even tried taking any plugs out.
