I-Command Guru - Parts and Pieces Questions

I have a 2007 Z21 Ranger with NMEA backbone, blue connectors (not the new RED) and LMS-332C. I have been talking with my dealer about the parts and pieces I need to install an I-Command Digital gauge to the network. They are telling me I need new cable, an integrator at the back of the boat, etc. I have seen on this forum that all I need is the engine cable to connect to the NMEA T connector and then connect the I-Command digital gauge to the NMEA network under the console. They are telling me about $500 for all the parts and pieces vs. about $45 for the engine cable and $250 or so for the gauge on this forum.

So, I-Command guru's what do I need to do to install an I-Command digital gauge to the EMM on my 2007 225 HO ETEC? I just want info from the engine and display GPS speed and RPM on the I-Command.

    Confused!!

You need an adapter for the engine (The adapter comes with a 15' extension cable) & an extra extension cable to get it to the dash's NMEA network. Use the T supplied with the I-Command gauge to tie the gauge into the existing dash system.

    (1) Adapter
    (1) Backbone Extension Cable (25'?)
    (1) I-Command Gauge

The power for the I-Command gauge will come from your existing NMEA 2000 Boat Setup.

Since I have a NMEA connector in the back of the boat for the GPS antenna, assume I don't need to route a extension cable to the driver console? Also, since I have the BLUE connectors vs. current RED style, do I need an adapter for the I-Command gauge? Also, any setup required for the EMM?

    Thanks

    Rod,

I'm interested as well. i have the exact same set up. I hope we can just plug it into the empty side of that "T" connector that connects the gps antenna to the lowrance network. That would make for a very neat and easy installation!

That's what I have seen here on this forum, but dealer is telling me something different. Not sure the dealer knows what he is talking about. Should be as simple as connecting the EMM to the NMEA network and adding the I-Command gauge.

You may be able to display some of your info on your FF. I have a 339c and can do this.

Re: I-Command Guru - Parts and Pieces Questions (Z21ROD)

    (1) 763517 Adapter for the motor to the GPS Antenna in the rear (it come with a T connector to tie it in) & (1) 763507 I-Command Digital Gauge to replace the existing Tach (it also comes with a T connector to tie it in). The system should work with the EMM on a single engine application unless someone changed something. The trim sender will need to be synchronized with the EMM if you want the trim function to work properly (you will need either a trim gauge, I-command ignition/trim harness """OR""" a 47ohm 5 watt resistor (install in a particular place for your standard engine harness) for the trim function to work.) Make sure the firmware in the existing Lowrance unit is up to date. Also make sure the engine map is up to date. Older Lowrance Unit Firmware can bombard the EMM with to many requests at once. If you want full function of the fuel management info you will need the optional items that can be put on at a later date. Memory Module & Analog Fuel Sender Signal Converter.
