Hey hope I'm not thread jacking. I'm about to order a blackhawk 761 and am wondering if anyone has or seen one with a yamaha f115 and 3 batteries in the back. All the dealers and boats I have seen online are setup with a 90. Want to know how much it squats in the back when sitting in the water. Also want to know what shaft length trolling motor I will need looking at the mk terrova 24v/80 or the fortrex 24v/80 not sure if I want the ipilot.

That isn't a thread jack Joey- it's the same sort of questions i had when i started the thread. Welcome to the Tin thread & Club War Eagle! I don't know any 761 owners, and i haven't seen one in the water. If you've read this whole thread you'll know that Kubota ordered a 761 but changed his mind to a 961 before the other one was built. That F115 is alot of motor at a touch over 400 pounds.....BUT, when you look at what we DO have to look at.......Bassgas's boat is 2 feet longer than yours will be with the bottom width being the same. His boat looks like it has a great "attitude" at rest, and his is wearing a 150. His motor is 80 pounds heavier than yours, but his boat is a Tomahawk to so it has alot more forward deck than yours, mine & Kubota's will have. Still, it would make me feel better if i were you because his boat looks great.
I know i haven't directly answered your question because i don't have the data to do so. I am gonna hang a 10" plate on my 961 with a 150, but it's a 2- stroke that's actually 15 pounds lighter than a F115 so i feel good about it, even with the plate. I think you'll be fine to, but i do figure you'll have some squat. My dealer says i need a 54" shaft, and i've already bought a 54" Terrova 24v/80. I would venture to guess you'll need a 54" as well, especially considering the aforementioned possible stern squat. Hope this helps- don't hesitate to ask any questions you think we might can help you with. I have researched the Blackhawk basckwards and forwards & will help you any way that i can as most everybody here will. Truly a great bunch of guys.

Never thought about squat and troll motor shaft lengths. I put a 45" maxxum on mine. I thinks it going to be good?

Well duck48, I am still waiting on trailer. Have you heard anything about your rig? I am making it pretty good except on days like yesterday then I start getting 961 withdrawals, maybe we will be in business before long.

The last i heard a little over a week ago it was built and headed to the paint booth to be painted, and on to "rigging" after that. I'm sure it's probably ready by now. I know Beech Lake has some more boats coming and mine may have to sit a few extra days before the load is all ready. Not a biggie because i know it will be here soon. I am certainly ready to see her & float her. I've got so much crap in my schedule for the next 2 weeks i'm jammed up anyway without much time, which is probably doing alot for my patience. Surprised your trailer hasn't showed up. You have any projections as to when it might get here? I really want to see your boat after they rig it. I actually rode by there this morning to see if yours had moved & it's still in the corner.

Thanks. The shaft lenght was what I was worring about bc my dealer doesnt stock them. Im hoping that it sits and runs great with the f115 I already own the outboard, if it doesnt I will probably sell it and get a mercury xr6 which weights the same as the f90. Do you know if there is enough room to mount 3 batteries in the back? Or do you know an arrangement to mount the batteries? I havent actually looked at the boat in person going this weekend to look at one bf I order it. Also what pitch prop do you think I should start out with cant find anything about the weight of the hull.

I too have not seen a 761 but the difference in space between it and the 961 (which i HAVE seen) looks to be between the front of the livewell and the front deck, which would mean the bilge or "battery" compartment should be the same as the 961. The 961 has plenty of room for 3 batteries and a charger and/or oil tank. As far as your weight question, one of the greatest things about War Eagle is that you can actually talk to a very knowledgable human if you call as a customer. I did it MANY times before i ordered my boat. 870-367-1554.............if it were me, i'd ask for Nick. He's a heck of a nice guy and he knows his boats. Ask him questions. Your prop question ...do you intend to put a plate on your boat, or bolting straight on to the transom? and as far as your motor question..you will be unable to put an XR6 ON A 761. That boat cannot be configured to rate that much horsepower. The only way you can get it to rate for that in the 2' longer 961 is with hydraulic steering. A 115 hp rating is all that you will be able to get out of a 761. Hope this helps........keep the questions coming and we'll all do our best to help you.

One thing that impressed me on my WE was the room at the transom. Mine fits 3 batteries with plenty of room for spare prop, battery charger and I have the smaller 648. Allot of tin boats are very tight for room back there.

I know it will run a lot better with a plate I just don't know if I should get a hydraulic or manual cost vs performance. This boat keeps getting more and more expensive by the thousands lol. Also how much set back do you think I would need? Thanks for all the help.

    Per War Eagle's website...

    961 Blackhawk Length19' 5" Side Depth 25" HP Rating 115*-150**

*The center console model rates for 115HP
**The side console model rates for 150HP

    Nothing about adding hydraulic steering.

Jeff- those measurements you quoted are correct....for a 961. Joey is asking about a 761, which has the exact same measurements with the exception being it's exactly 2' shorter. Again, the max hp rating will be 115 horsepower no matter how you configure the boat.
Joey- i feel your pain brother. Mine started out not being ridiculous.......but by the time i quit it got HIGH.......adding sea star hydraulic steering, duckbill, extra cleats, seat bases, gun box with cushion, seats, splashwell. bench seat insert, etc drove it thru the roof. But i wanted it like i wanted it, and i wanted a boat to carry a 150 that can take the positive trim without acting like a fool. I do agree with you that a plate WILL help any boat with an 18 degree hull. I would have loved to put a hydro on mine but i can't stand anymore- already gonna have a darn mint in this thing. I am going to start mine with a 10" plate just because i already have the plate. Had i not already had it i think i'd have started with a 6". Just keep in mind that the more setback you use, the more stern squat you will have. The farther you take that weight away from the transom, the farther it's going to squat the rear. It will be a case-by-case basis as far as whether or not the boat's "attitude" at rest will be worth the performance gain the offset will offer (i.e. 961 or 761, hp, engine weight, prop, etc). If you are going to order a boat i'd have them add a splashwell for sure because it looks good and it's really inexpensive at barely past $100.
I'm gonna start mine about 3.5" below the pad with the 10" plate, and a 150 Fast Strike with a 24 Raker. The people i've talked to that seem knowledgeable say this thing is going to be a rocket. We shall see. Keep the questions coming if we can help you.

Thanks, duck48, I went down there this morning to check it out. Its kinda hard figuring out where to mount them 999's man they are huge, but with my old eyes I want them where I could see them and still have room for adjustment. I need to stay away from there, I add a little something every time I go. Just got new lakemaster cards and transducer shield in mail when I got home. Maybe I will have enough $ to put gas in it when its ready!!!

Mine is going to get an 899 but i'm gong to use the same mount because i REALLY liked yours and how solid it was. I had not considered dual transducers with the y cable until i saw yours. Not sure what i will do as far as that goes. Like the fortrex too. its nice.

I got the idea about the transducers on the transom after reading about the depth readings while running with the hds transducers that come with the 999. It may work and may not, I talked to Bryan at BBG Marine which by the way is super to deal with, about running what I call football transducer while on plane and he said it would do better reading depth. Hope it does just hate to spend that kind of money on 999 and not getting some reading on depth while on plane. Anyways, guess I will find out.

Bought my stuff from Brian and i agree he is awesome. Looks like you'll be in the water soon-- they said your trailer is getting close and they were gonna have you ready to drop it right on there and send you on your way. Getting a status report on mine- getting anxious to see it. Yours is just awesome dude.

Duck if I put the hydraulic jack plate I will be putting limit switches on there that way it should be pretty much set. The other costly thing is depth finders. I thought I seen a boat on here that had it mounted in the dash but my phone will not load any pics. Im wanting one with gps which I will have mounted on or in the dash. I dont think I need a huge screen if the smaller one has the same features maybe 7"... the other one I would prefer not to have gps bc of cost but would like a descent size screen and hd any help in this department will be great as I only have one shot to get it right this time lol. Did you get the extension tube with your gun box to fit long fishing rods? Im really wanting to get that but I'm wondering how well it holds the rods and are you able to keep the rods seperated and not just laying in the box. Like to keep my stuff looking brand new.

Kubota and i are both in the process of rigging 2 brand new 961's. He put Humminbird 999's on his boat- mine will get 899's. He Ram Mounted his unit and the console and i am going to do mine the exact same way. There are pictures of an "in dash" mount on a 961 on here, but that fella did his himself and that is not a configuration available from War Eagle. Hopefully we can con Kubota into putting some pics of his boat on here when he picks it up next week.
If you choose to do an indash mount yourself, the biggest thing that will fit is a 5" screen i do believe. The Ram Mount Kubota used at the trailing edge of the console looks really, really good (hope you don't mind my sharing Kubota). I personally prefer Hummingbird but the world is full of Lowrance fans as well which you can easily find out on this board. We both shopped at BBG Marine, and Brian is one super cat to do business with. Give him a call, tell him you found him on BBC, tell him what your looking for & what you need your units to do, and listen to what he has to say. You'll be HARD pressed to beat his price.
Kubota and i will both have the rod tube inside the gun box. I do not believe, from what i have seen, that it will be effective and separating (i.e. as in they can't touch/bump together) your rods. If you don't want them to touch you might should look into War Eagle's "rocket launcher" like they use on center console boats.
Look back thru this thread for the other 961. His boat has a 4" hydro on it and he says it is awesome. Here are the "options" that i put on my 961. Seeing my list can't hurt you i guess:
From the plant- 60' gunbox with rod tube & cushion, 2 extra bases in floor, 2 extra bases on rear deck, 1 extra seat & pedestal, center bench seat insert, splashwell, duckbill, sea-star hydraulic steering, tranducer bracket, 3 12 volt spotlight plugs, 2 extra cleats, pre-rig for hot foot, pro trim, and upgrade to Predator steering wheel.
Things i will add after the boat gets here: 10" jackplate, in dash compass, two Humminbird 899CISI's, T&H Twist Step ladder, minn kota 3 bank charger, led interior lights, cupholders, tite-lok trolling racks (i fish for crappie), minn kota Terrova 54" shaft, 24v 80 lb thrust, delco batteries, boat buckles for trailer, hot foot. That's the whole list i think but it's off the top of my head. Perhaps if you sent us your list we can reason with one another, or maybe just seeing mine will help you. Let me know if you have any more questions, Happy to help you any way that i can.
