setting up after break in need more speed

I have a 202 w/a 250xs. I have it broke in and running good. The best it has run is 83.2 w/a 27 tempest. If we raise motor we gain rpm and loose speed with 20+ pounds of water pressure. The guys at preformance propellers say I need more prop. I have been told gene enlow is da man I need info to unleash the beast.

Welcome to BBC and Blazer forum. We need alot more info to help you.

*how many rpms are you turning
    *how much setback
    *sportmaster or torguemaster
    *what gear ratio
*what is you propshaft height in relation to the pad of the boat
*what year motor, does it have a 5850 or 6300 limiter
*have you tried any other props
*how many hours on the motor cause I've heard them taking about 50hrs to really let go.

And the guy you're referring to is Greg, not Gene.
Get us that info and we can help you.

could this motor turn a 29 because when we were trying to set it up we raised the motor and gained rpm with good water pressure but kept slowing down

Is you prop stock? The Blazers like 14"-15" setback but you can come close with 12". When you come up, you say rpms climb but speed doesn't. Is it still lifting the bow or not.....I had a spot with my setup to where it was like a dead zone or water too aireated. Above it and all was good and below it all was good. If your at 2 1/2" below now, how high did you go and loose speed but gain rpm. With a torguemaster, you should be able to run it around 1" below and still have plenty bite. You may have to plug off the top 3 or 4 water intake holes on the side of the lu.

    Welcome to the boards.....

2 1/2" seems too low if that measurement is correct. How's the handling of the boat? I'd think you need to be around 1" below to even with the pad. I'd also think you could turn a bigger prop.

This board will definitely get you to your max potential.

You've got a great boat so enjoy it!

I wouldn't prop up yet and Im pretty sure a 29 will be to big. something in the 27 range but with a bigger diameter.

To achieve the absolute best with your boat motor combo, you need a nosecone on that lu or a sportmaster. But with you lu, we should be able to get you a few more mph.

IMO the boat will run faster with a SM. Using what you have I'd plug the top 4 holes in the lower unit and raise it to 1" below the pad and get a 28 TXP.

With a Sportmaster lower unit and a TXP, would see around 85-87 loaded. You definitely need a Sportmaster lower unit or a nose cone on a Blazer with the XS. And Greg and Chad both know their stuff.
