    AME 400 Resin???

Seriously considering a 202, and a Basscat. With the blazers how many of you got the AME 400 resin? And if you did or did not get it, how is the hull after time. Are there stress cracks, is there fading??? Also honestly how would you rank the ride of the boat? Do you find the storage on this boat adequate?? Any responses greatly appreaciated, the closest dealer is almost 6 hours, so I am not going there just yet.

No cracks or fading on mine yet. Very good ride for a fast boat and has a lot of storage space.

EJP, my Blazer was little over 5ys old when I got my Ally. It had zero stress cracks and literally looked brand new. Storage was never an issue. It rode great and was a very stable fishing platform. I've been in Basscats and to each his own but I rather the Blazer by a long shot.

    Re: AME 400 Resin??? (chad202)

Well, I'm going to an '06 202 from an '05 Stratos 200 Pro. I compared the two quite a bit before I made my final decision. I was impressed with the Blazer in several ways.

The fit and finish was actually much better than I expected (not that I expected bad things, Blazer is just a slightly lower priced boat). The standard features were great (pumpout, jack-plate, pop-up cleats, rod organizer, tackle organizer, hot-foot, pro-trim, etc). It has less storage than my Stratos had, but there's not much out there that will rival Stratos' storage. Plus, I never used half of the storage space I had.

I also liked the console layout. I like having the water pressure and trim guages right up at the top of the console just under where you are looking. You do not have to look down and search for an important guage while running.

The seating position seemed to be lower in the boat which gives you a little more feeling of safety. I have yet to ride in a 202, so I can't comment on how the ride will be compared to my 200 Pro. I believe I will be giving up very little as far as ride comfort, but I will be gaining 3-4 mph. My E-Tec H.O. powered Stratos would run 78-79 gps. I am going with another 225 H.O. E-Tec on my 202 and should be able to turn a 30 TXP to 83 mph without too much trouble.

Again, I was thoroughly impressed with Blazer Boats. I have spoke with the factory and was treated great and my calls were returned in a timely manner. I also want to recommend Todd @ C&O Marine (a BBC Sponsor). These folks know how to treat a customer. I see you're from Maryland and this may be the closest dealer to you. You can't beat their prices and their customer service. If you haven't been down, you could just come down to the boat show in Nashville in January and just pull a new boat home.

If you have any questions I can help you with, please feel free to ask.

But did you get the AME 4000 Resin??? Thats my question, I appreaciate all responses, but I m still wondering about this AME 4000 Resin. Is it neccasary, and what is the advantage, I figure weight, but does it stand up that much better. And my closest dealer is Water World in NC. But I will be calling Todd after I see the boat to compare everyones pricing. I figure if I have to drive 6 hours for the closest dealer, whats another couple hours for a better price if I am to find one!

    Re: AME 400 Resin??? (EJP)

I didn't have a choice of 'resins' when I ordered my boat. I may have been missing something, but it's not mentioned on their website either. Sorry I can't help you with that part of your question. I will see what I can find out though.

If you look at the options for the 202, it says AME 4000 Resin, and a month or so back someone told me if I order one to make sure and get the 4000 Resin. So I am confused. I am going to try and get ahold of David Chester and see what he tells me, but everyones input is great thanx

    Re: AME 400 Resin??? (EJP)

Maybe this will help. I had a procraft with the AME 5000 resin and the boat was a 1997. I had the boat for 7 years and had no problem at all with cracks or fading.
I know it is a big difference in boats and resin but thats the best I can do.

    Re: AME 400 Resin??? (Vyper296)

OK, lets see if I can answer your question. My last Blazer had the AME 4000 resin and after 3 years it still looked brand new. When I picked up my new Blazer and dropped off the old one, my 190 was one of the best looking boats the dealer had on the lot! I don't remember if I ordered my new boat with the AME 4000 resin or not, but I bet when I go to get rid of it, it will look brand new also. You take care of it and it will look great. My wife does a great job polishing and waxing my boat.

Maybe I'm crazy (I've been told that lately), but I don't see it on the '06 order sheet (I have an extra from where I placed my order).

Oh BlazerDave.....can you help us out on this one?

When i ordered my 04 202 i had a chance to speak with Keith over at Blazer,he said that they were not using AME 4000,that they were using something they thought would be better.Perhaps Blazer Dave can chime in and tell us for sure, but i'm pretty sure thats what i was told.Whatever the case my be you will get one fine boat and warranty on the hull for life of the boat. The guys at Blazer will do whatever they can to make you happy. Not many other boat makers will give you the service you will get from Blazer. Most of the guys on this post have had several Blazers myself included.Just go drive one and you will see.

Mine has the AME 4000 resin. Boat still looks great and I do alot of stump jumping. Rub marks are common on every boat around here. Mine was covered with them, but a afternoon with the buffer and polishing compound, like new!!

    Re: AME 400 Resin??? (EJP)

    Eric

Talked to Blazer. According to Blazer, VERY FEW were ever made with the 4000 resin so they pretty much quit using it. If you pushed Keith hard enough, he might get the resin in specific for your boat but I bet it would be expensive.

The advantage of the AME resin is weight. They never weighed the final hull difference but suspected it to be ~ 100lbs. As far as durability, there is no advantage of the AME 4000 over their standard resin. Mine is not the AME 4000 and as you saw for yourself, I have no complaints thus far with cosmetics or durability.

Bottom line....it comes down to how much you want to pay to loose 100 lbs!
