I've got the 5 year warranty on my motor. My understanding is you can add that other 2 years as long as you are in that 5 year window, what is the cost for those extra 2 years?

You can add two years to a total of 7 years, though a dealer needs to handle the amount for this.

I believe Sherm told me the cost will vary as to when you buy that extra two years. The longer you wait and closer you get until the end of the first 5 years the more expensive it will be.

Someone had posted on another one of the boards that it was somewhere between 1850-2100 dollars and something about on the 5 year warranty that the 1st 3 years of it was bumper to bumper but those extra 2 only covered mechanical and not electrical.... And you could add those 2 years of the 5 years for 250 dollars to cover electrical. It's kind of confusing. Sherm if you read this post can you please shed some light on it.
Thanks Jim
Jim, this might help. http://www.mercurymarine.com/m...m.pdf What you get is the standard. However with the promo they extend that to 5.
Mercury Marine Standard Warranty covers the engine package during the fi rst three years of ownership.
Now, Consumers have the opportunity to extend MPP Gold or upgrade to MPP Platinum which provides
extended coverage beyond standard factory warranty for a maximum of seven years total coverage.

depends on how long you are into your warranty and how many hours you have on your motor and claims. I just went through this a month ago!
I'll fill you guys in more tomorrow when i get back in the office but as Gary mentioned it is cheaper if you purchase it early vs. later and to purchase Mercury plan it has to be done while still under the original 3 yr. warranty..
