    05 Etec overtemp alarm. revisted...

I ask you guys about an overtemp alarm I have started to get when idling on an 05 225 etec ho. So I took it to my dealer, and he installed the new mapping that was recommended by the forum experts. After the install he ran in a tank for 1 hour and didn't get any alarms. Did this fix the problem? The reason why I ask, he indicated that the new mapping did not have anything to do with the temp alarm issue. Is this true or is he misimformed? If it is the fix, great, but if not, what else needs to be done. He thought that maybe the impeller could be the issue if it continues. What are your thoughts..

    Thanks

    Dan,

It depends what map was in it and what map he installed. If memory serves me correctly, there was a previous update that addressed this particular situation. Any successive updates, although they may be for "something else" will normally include all the prio stuff too.

    Make sense?

The engine computer housing did not an ink dot, indicating it did not have any mapping updates. The service bulliten, said look for an ink dot on the computer housing to see if the update was done at the factory. Maybe that could help one of the experts find out which update was performed. I am taking the boat out tomorrow, so we will see.

    Thanks for help..
